Frostbite Series – Round 5
I had a rough but fun weekend racing at the Herrin Compound. I started off Saturday by crashing my grom second lap of practice giving my dad some work to do fixing it. Today I raced all adult advanced classes, I messed up a few starts and that really put me in a bad position of playing catch up, but I rode hard, cut through traffic and caught back up to get second in all those races and had the fastest lap in each of those races, my competitors are very fast so I need be more consistent on these starts.
I think the highlight of the weekend was a race long battle with one of my idols Ashton Yates in supermini on our Honda 150’s, I barely got him at the line to get second. He had an old rear tire and usually goes a few tenths faster than me but I’m thrilled to even be able to race close to his speed. He had the fastest lap of that race so I hope our battle didn’t hold him up much. All in all I won 1 race, got 4 second places, and a third. I set my personal best lap times on three of my bikes so I’m real happy with that. I want to thank Herrin Compound, Shoei Helmets North America, Trackapalooza, Moto D and my dad. Now back to training and getting my starts consistent.
